Exhale 30 sec, that's all!

The Finnish start-up company, Deep Sensing Algorithms, is developing a Covid-19 coronavirus testing solution, a device, which makes detection of the virus infection very much faster and affordable compared to the currently available testing methods. Test will cost only a fraction of the current ones and the result is ready in two minutes. The test is made on exhaled breath, so it is also much more pleasant for the tested person.
Sounds too good to be true? Well, it still is very much true! The project is already far and the pilot testing is ongoing in several countries.
The main responsible developer and supplier is Creo Center Oy. SADE Innovations is acting as a subcontractor for Creo Center, and SADE’s responsibilities in this project are electronics, software and cloud service development.
The nano-sensor technology based scientific fundament has been developed by professor emeritus Risto Orava. The idea is to analyze the VOC gas composition of exhaled breath, and the virus detection is using artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
The device development has been going on since March this year, and the work has progressed with super speed. All phases along the way have been made agile way, flexibly and intelligently, so that the later requirements during the project and commercial ramp-up have been considered and solved early on. This project has really shown the speed and efficiency of small companies working together towards common goal.
Especially during the last weeks, it has become very clear that there is a big need for a fast, inexpensive and reliable corona testing. So, it is now critical to get the reliability verified and validated, so that we can get the last things finalized and start shipping as soon as possible.
This device might well prove to be groundbreaking also wider, because the same technology could possibly be used in detecting also other diseases from exhaled breath.
