Rapid development for defence and dual-use

SADEFENCE combines civilian development speed, embedded systems, sensor networks, secure cloud development, user interfaces and rapid prototyping for demanding operational environments where reliability and security are not negotiable.

Credibility

What we can actually point to.

Real projects, partners and registrations. Built and tested. Not just promised.

  • NCAGE registered

An international identifier for organisations operating as part of global supply chains, and a practical prerequisite in defence procurement.

    NCAGE registration news →
  • Digital Defence Ecosystem member

Membership followed collaboration in the VTT Dual Use Discovery Programme and the Darkstar Defence Tech Hackathon, where partnerships with ecosystem members such as Millog began.

  • NATO Innovation Range 2026

SADE-developed technology was tested during the NIR 2026 series in Finland, in the Turku Coastline setup alongside Sensoan, KNL Networks, Millog and Turku UAS.

  • Supply Security & Defence Expo 2026

Exhibited in Tallinn at one of the most significant defence and security events in the Baltic region, alongside customer Rebelvolt.

  • EU co-funded Booster extension

A €50,000 ELY Centre development grant, co-funded by a European regional development programme, to extend SADE Booster for defence and public safety requirements.

  • Finnish, employee-owned

100% owned by its own engineers, with development carried out in Salo and Turku.

Participation in these programmes does not imply that SADE solutions carry military or NATO certification. Suitability for a specific programme is always assessed against that programme's own requirements.

Solution areas

Where our civilian engineering transfers.

The same disciplines behind connected industrial products, applied to operational requirements.

  • Sensor networks and gateways

Distributed sensing with edge gateways that collect, process and forward data over constrained links.

  • Edge data processing

Processing and packaging data at the edge so that only what matters crosses a limited-bandwidth radio link.

  • Situational awareness interfaces

Interfaces that present a single operational view from multiple sources, designed for use under pressure.

  • Secure cloud and data services

AWS-based backends with controlled identity, access and update paths for every connected node.

  • Interfaces for the actual conditions

Gloved hands, darkness, cold. No time to read and no second attempt. In this domain an interface decision is an operational decision, and the hardware must follow suit.

  • Embedded software

Zephyr, FreeRTOS and Linux device software with verifiable update paths and long service lifetimes.

  • Mobile energy systems

Interfaces and remote management for deployable energy systems, including telemetry and cloud connectivity.

  • Rapid prototypes

Working hardware and software prototypes fast enough to be tested in an exercise rather than described in a document.

  • Dual-use adaptation

Civilian technology adapted for dual-use environments, reusing proven components where the requirements allow.

NATO Innovation Range 2026

One operational view, assembled from the field.

In the Turku Coastline setup, Sensoan's DECT NR+ sensors deployed on an island monitored their surroundings and transmitted data to a SADE-developed Edge Node Gateway installed onboard Turku UAS's autonomous vessel eM/S Salama.

The SADE Edge Node Gateway processed and packaged the data before transmitting it via KNL Networks' long-range radio link to Millog's TAK situational awareness system. Data from tests conducted across different parts of Finland could then be monitored in real time through a single operational view.

The Finnish Ministry of Defence acted as the national authority responsible for the event, with practical arrangements coordinated by the Digital Defence Ecosystem and DEFINE innovation ecosystems.
