How OUMAN opened its building technology devices to remote access
A remote access solution highly valued by OUMAN's customers, plus the cloud and app behind smart thermostats.
OUMAN
Customer context
OUMAN develops building automation and control devices used to manage heating and energy consumption in properties across the Nordics.
OUMAN products adjust the energy consumption of buildings, enable healthy indoor air quality and optimize the energy cost of buildings.
In 2020 OUMAN chose Booster as the base for all its cloud-connected device concepts, to turn thermostats and smart relays into a consumer energy service.

What the solution gives each group
Homeowners
Heating follows spot prices and the weather, and the app shows the energy and money saved. Zones, home and away modes and week clocks from the phone, also with Google Home and Alexa.
Service technicians
No more need to drive to a site and enter the building to read a value off a panel.
Brands and partners
The same cloud serves several end products, so new products launch without a new backend.
OUMAN
From device sales to an energy service: device management and alerts on abnormal behaviour.
- Booster Cloud
- Mobile app for Wi-Fi thermostats and smart relays

The challenge
Building technology devices are installed in basements and technical rooms. Diagnosing and adjusting them on site is slow, and property owners increasingly expect to see and control consumption from an app.
Why the obvious solution was not enough
Remote access into building automation must be added without weakening the security posture of the installed base, and the user experience has to make sense to both professionals and residents.
The SADE approach
SADE developed a remote access solution for OUMAN's building technology devices, and worked with OUMAN on the cloud solution and Evesta mobile app for managing and optimising electric floor heating.
Technology and delivery
- Remote access solution for OUMAN building technology devices
- Cloud solution behind the Evesta smart thermostat
- Evesta mobile application
- Quarter-hour electricity measurement support
Business outcome
- Remote access became a feature highly valued by OUMAN's customers
- Electric floor heating can be managed and optimised to reduce costs
- Energy efficiency improvements delivered through a consumer-grade app experience
What happens next
OUMAN and SADE continue to collaborate, including both OUMAN thermostats and smart relays, and Harvia connected sauna projects.
