SATEL

Customer context

SATEL is a global forerunner in radio technology. Its solutions secure mission-critical data communication in conditions where consumer networks simply do not reach or cannot be trusted.

Who uses it

An installer configuring a device on a machine at a work site, and a fleet operator who needs the link to stay up. The BT-RS232 adapter exists because the device itself has no interface: configuration happens over Bluetooth from a phone, standing next to the machine, in the same way as SATEL's other products.

Delivered by SADE
  • Yocto Linux-based embedded system for the MCCU-30 multi-band vehicle router
  • Facility monitoring and message management
  • Mobile application for remote configuration
  • Mechanical design

The challenge

Modern machinery needs more than a radio link. It needs an intelligent hub that manages several bands, monitors the installation, handles messages and can be configured remotely — while remaining dependable in the field.

Why the obvious solution was not enough

This is exactly the kind of work a standard IoT platform cannot absorb. The requirements sit in embedded Linux, radio behaviour and hardware design, where the product's value lives in the details rather than in a dashboard.

The SADE approach

SADE has supported SATEL's development since 2022, working across embedded software, connectivity, hardware and user interfaces as a long-term extension of SATEL's own engineering.

Technology and delivery

  • Yocto Linux-based embedded system development for the MCCU-30 multi-band vehicle router
  • Facility monitoring and message management
  • Mechanical design contributions to earlier MCCU devices
  • SATEL BT-RS232 adapter, adding Bluetooth connectivity to devices without it
  • Mobile application software enabling remote configuration

Business outcome

  • MCCU-30 acts as an intelligent data transmission hub in heavy machinery
  • Devices without native Bluetooth can be configured remotely like the rest of the SATEL range
  • A multi-year engineering partnership across software, hardware and UI

What happens next

Collaboration continues across SATEL's connectivity product family.
